If I wanted to buy a used Rolex watch from a pawn shop or from a website like Craigslist.com, what are things that I should look for to certify that the piece is an authentic Rolex?|||all i know is a certificate of authenticity that has the warranty date on it.
some say that you should ask them to open up the watch inside %26amp; show you the engravings/movement but that is a very bad thing to do because it ruins the watch %26amp; the person won't be able to sell it for the same price afterwards.
i would go with my gut instinct. if it looks off/weird (colour, alignment, movement, strap/links, etc), then i wouldn't buy it. people will not go to great lengths to make it look authentic. just like how can you tell a fake bill from a real bill. if they put a lot of effort into making it look really real, then it must be worth that much.|||the minute hand ticks on a fake, the real rolex glide's not ticks :)|||ask a jeweler..they should tell you for free.
